With the Holiday Season right around the corner and Hong Kong’s streets now fully converted to one big urban Pokemon Go playground, what is the better time to think about all things fun?
There are few aspects in our lives where technology, innovation, creativity and the global diversity of thought and passion are more reflected than in our individual and communal relationship with fun and playful learning. Whether it is multi-device, multi-dimensional consumption of rich media, cutting edge social networks, VR, AR, toy robotics, high tech workouts or even silent raves, we are seeing, tasting, touching, hearing and smelling fun in funtasticly new and revolutionary ways.
Join us on Saturday, October 15th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for an entertaining and insightful day with hundreds of fellow TEDxers, creators, innovators, entrepreneurs, technologists and learners. World class thinkers, doers and tinkerers will be giving live TEDx talks and participating in Talking TED campfire chats with the community to facilitate the sharing of ideas, experiences and visions of where we are and where they think we will be. See you at Funtastic! |

Debut Dongguan Pavilion
|
Being one of the major manufacturing cities of electronics industry on the Chinese mainland, Dongguan set up its pavilion for the first time at the Autumn Electronics Fair 2016. Ms. Wenli Huang, Director of Dongguan Foreign Investment Promotion Center, came to officiate its participation at the fair. |
|
“This is the first time we have set up a Dongguan Pavilion at Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) showcasing the strength of our enterprises in the manufacturing of electronic products. We also take advantage of this platform for the brand building of Dongguan products to expand our presence internationally. The feedback has been positive as our enterprises received a lot of interest from prospective customers. We have entered into a five-year strategic partnership with HKTDC to step up the brand building of Dongguan products in order to increase our presence globally. Our enterprises are working vigorously to enhance their sales and marketing channels. This Hong Kong fair offers a perfect chance for our enterprises to promote products to buyers worldwide. The cooperation with HKTDC is a long-term initiative that goes beyond electronics. We will work together closely and organise Dongguan enterprises to participate in more Hong Kong trade fairs every year covering various businesses such as electronics and components, fashion, toys, gifts & premium items. We are positive this partnership will work out well and Hong Kong will play an important role in helping Dongguan enterprises grow internationally.”

“Launched in 1998, Cuckoo is now a famous brand for multi-cookers in Korea. Our Cuckoo brand also offers rice cookers, ranges, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and water purifiers. Currently, 85 per cent of our products are sold in the Korean domestic market, with the rest being exported. This is our first time participating in the Hong Kong Electronics Fair because we are keen to expand our export business. The Hong Kong fair provides a good location for us to look for new distributors and meet with our existing distributors. We have found a potential distributor from Taiwan and both parties will have further negotiations.”

“Three years ago, our company has successfully developed an intelligent textile heating technology which can be applied to various products such as gloves, outdoor clothing, insoles and eye masks. Our new technology uses special heating fiber to be the thermal conductor. Users simply download our free mobile app and they can check temperature and adjust their desired heating levels easily. This is our first exhibition in the Start-up Zone at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. The Start-up Zone showcases a lot of new products and new technologies, attracting the attention of many buyers. The zone provides a good opportunity for us to promote our technology to potential investors. We have received serious enquiries from buyers from Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore.”

“The Product Group distributes 15 consumer electronics brands in Australia. Our products include headphones, speakers, drones, wearables, smartphones and accessories. It is my first time visiting the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. I like the Start-up Zone which offers new technologies, new ideas and new products. I have attended the pitching event which provides a good opportunity for buyers or investors to meet with start-ups, give them our feedback and identify new business opportunities. It is likely that I’ll co-operate with two to three start-ups that I met at the pitching event. At the fair, I have also found two new brands for streaming cameras and sports tech products and I’ll bring them to the Australian market. The Hong Kong Electronics Fair is a good show. I’ll come again next year to look for new products and new technologies.”
Steven Kayalicos, Director, The Product Group, Australia |
“Dobre Mobily operates 20 stores in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, selling mobile phones, accessories and wearable electronics. This is our first-time visit to the Hong Kong Electronics Fair to find something new for our stores. As we are expanding our retail business, we want to import from Asian suppliers for better prices, rather than relying on European suppliers. We have found several interesting items such as data storage for iPhones, smart bands, smart watches and mini projectors which are provided by six potential suppliers from Asia. It's good to be here to see and touch the products personally. The fair is well-organised and brings together many suppliers, so we can find everything that we want here. We'll have further negotiations with these potential suppliers after the fair. To test market response, we'll buy some for each model.”

“In business for 17 years, Creative Chips is a Germany-based semiconductor manufacturer of custom-specific ICs for industrial, automotive and consumer applications. We also provide off-the-shelf products to meet customer needs. The company produces 60 million devices a year. This is our fourth-year participation in electronicAsia to promote our technology for sensor communication with CPU. The response has been very positive again. We have got in touch with a diversity of customers from different places including the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Australia, Russia, Europe, Turkey and Israel within the first two days of exhibition. Further negotiation will take place while it usually takes at least one year to conclude cooperation and orders. This fair is the best of its kind in Asia Pacific for the business development of semiconductors and components. The exhibition result is satisfying.”

We take pride in our commitment to quality, R&D and green initiatives to come up with new products continuously and meet customers’ needs. electronicAsia is a major trading platform to raise our profile internationally. We have been participating in this fair over the years to promote our products and corporate branding. The results have been very encouraging. We are able to secure new customers every year and that really helps expand our business presence. One of the major highlights for this year’s exhibition is our new polymer hybrid series for automotive applications. We’ve received positive responses. A number of buyers have made enquiries and they are coming from different places such as India, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Denmark. We love exhibiting here. Everything is professionally run and well managed.”

“TDL is engaged in the import and wholesale business distributing a wide range of products from consumer electronics to satellite TV, automotive audio and security items in Canada. We are one of the biggest players in the business. At present, we source products from suppliers in USA, Mexico, Taiwan, the Chinese mainland. I am visiting electronicAsia for the first time to explore new opportunities. So far, I have found five new suppliers from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland for security items, TV antennae and wireless HDMI signal devices. Their products are of very good quality. I will place orders for one container of products with each of the suppliers. Total amount of orders will be worth about US$200,000 and the deals are expected to be concluded in the coming week. This is really a good start. I like this fair. Everything has been so organised. I would love to come again to source more products.”
Shawn Tennier, Purchasing Director, TDL, Canada |
“MDT specialises in the design of IoT smart devices with particular focus on security systems as well as identity and mobility solutions. Our company is the fourth most popular IoT provider in Asia. Major markets include India, the Chinese mainland, Indonesia, Australia, Africa and ASEAN countries. electronicAsia is an excellent fair offering good business opportunities. I visit the fair every year. I have found some business partners through the business matchings this year. Negotiation is underway with German exhibitor Creative Chips GmbH for a partnership on customised IC design. I have also got in touch with two Hong Kong companies to discuss cooperation in the outsourcing of Bluetooth module design for various applications and the customisation of value-added features in IoT solutions. The business matching meetings worked out very well. It’s perfect matching for us.”
